Rev. Virginia Jarocha-Ernst

Hurray for 2013! I am so glad to see the calendar page turn from a rough, tough year. This fresh, new year renews my curiosity about the future! Maybe this is the year when we truly make a commitment to live more sustainably? Maybe this will be the year marriage equality becomes the law of the land? Maybe this is the year we will rebuild our communities on firmer ground and with fairer values? Maybe this is the year we are motivated to enact better gun control laws? It could happen. Really! I sound so optimistic, but you know even 2012 wasn’t all bad. Beautiful and good things happened in that sad old year, too. Most of all, we learned how strong and resilient we are. And we found out that generosity lives right here in our congregation. We grew our numbers, and we grew our hearts and souls. In spite of the passing cloud called ‘late December’, I am still basically an optimist, curious and even hopeful. May this New Year be the best one yet!

Blessings on our journey together,

Rev. Virginia

Next month’s theme is Compassion. If you have any resources, poems, quotes, etc. that you think would add to the program and discussion, please forward them to Rev. Virginia.
