From the April 2008 UUCMC Newsletter

We are now well into our Stewardship Campaign for the fiscal year starting July 1, 2008.  As I have said before, how we collectively respond to this effort will have a lasting impact on our beloved spiritual home.  Please repond generously so that we may move forward on a sound fiscal footing.

Cori and I will be having an afternoon informal reception on April 13 to help fund (through a free-will offering) the Ordination of Rosemarie Newberry.  Tom Brown will be playing his saxophone.  All are welcome.  Time and more details will follow.

I also wanted to note with sorrow the passing of Rae Young, a UUCMC Member for 35 years.  Rae was a former Bell Labs scientist with over 400 patents to his name, an accomplished musician, the long-time companion of Betty Woods, and worked consistently to remind us of the need for clear thinking and intellectual rigor.  He will be sorely missed.

Here are two dramatically similar quotes from two dramatically dissimilar individuals:

"Those who hate you don't win unless you hate them.  And then you destroy yourself."  Richard Nixon

"The price of hating other human beings is loving oneself less."  Eldridge Cleaver
